Holiday Tips - Gifts
Well, here we are again! Santa Claus is coming to Town!.
Kids will have their “wish list” and it always has the latest toys, games and computer ‘must haves’ Parents, need to oversee these presents and ensure that they are safe.
Don’t let your child visit the hospital emergency room this Christmas, whether you're buying or receiving toys, here are some useful tips to ensure a safe and happy holiday season.
  • Labels - read carefully. Use the age and safety recommendations; they are put on the label to ensure people can select toys and games according to age, abilities, skills and interest level of the child. Safety is always your top priority and you won’t hurt anyone feelings by exchanging a gift which would be better suited.

  • Batteries / Removable Parts - Children younger than age 3 should not have any toys with small parts. Children under 6 could swallow batteries or magnets in toys, these can cause serious injuries. Always look for sturdy construction and avoid toys with sharp edges.

  • Wheels. – Anything that moves is exciting for young children, bikes, roller blades, skates and skate boards, always buy the proper protective gear and spend time teaching them to ride correctly and obey the safety rules.

  • Packaging – We all love to Rip Open the presents – how many times have the instructions been thrown out and the chargers lost amongst the rubbish of wrapping papers and boxes… Parents, clean up immediately after opening gifts and dispose of the plastic, paper, string, packing beads so that accidents don’t happen.

  •  Cricket bats, skipping ropes, golf clubs – Some favourite gifts, but these can quickly become dangerous if not used in the correct matter. Parents, take the time to teach children the correct way to use these toys and prevent accidents from happening.
Parents – enjoy the Holiday Season  – your children will remember each happy moment for years to come.
